Banner Making - Outdoor install

Banner Making: From Envision to Completion

OUTDOOR BANNER INSTALLATION:

Outdoor vinyl banners is our preferred choice for those looking for durability, long-lasting results and cost effectiveness in an outdoor use banner. With our outdoor vinyl banners, many of the options of indoor banner applications remain, while gaining the durability to handle rough weather, sun exposure, wind conditions and other elements.

Materials and finishing

Naturally, banners produced for outdoor applications are produced on heavier weight material. Depending on permanent or temporary installation, and the exact conditions, outdoor banner material ranges between 10 oz. to an ultra-sturdy 22 oz.

While vinyl banners are ideal for outdoor uses, the option of full color digital print banners remains in using a fade resistant UV solvent based ink. Most common outdoor banner finishing options are single-folded edges with double lock stitched hems with grommet placement approximately every 2 feet. Pole pockets are also a popular choice, as is rope double stitched and threaded through the entire banner length. For extra durability, reinforced corners and nylon webbing provides added support.

Installation Methods

Depending on banner placement, one of the following usually applies for installation of outdoor banners:

Against a building:

All banner weights can be used as long as the banner itself has grommets every 24" to 30" all the way around. You can fasten the banner to the building, utilizing all the grommet points, with screws and washers.

Against a chain link fence:

When installing a vinyl banner on a chain link fence we suggest using nylon ties or wire interlaced through all the grommets onto the fencing.

Free standing banner frame:

Installation on free-standing banner frame systems depends on the banner frame itself. Retractable banner stand systems do not require any grommets and must be inserted into the frame. Adjustable banner stand systems require that the banner have grommets in the corners to be displayed properly on the hooks on the stand itself. If your banner stand system is pole related, then you will need a sleeved banner, to slide over the poles for display; or if you don't want a sleeved banner, you can utilize bungee cords, string or fishing wire threaded through the grommet points and hung from a pole system.

Tied between posts or trees:

When hanging a banner between two free-standing objects you will need to thread wire or string through all the grommets on the banner and tie them off to the two structures.

Over the street banners:

These heavy-duty banners usually have sewn in nylon webbing in the hem, single-folded and double-lock stitched hems with reinforced corners & grommets and rope stitched along top of banner edges. Other options are D-rings, O-rings, snap hooks, etc.

Street light banners:

All street light banners require special sleeves that are stitched into the top and bottom of the banner to slide over a bracket (or pole) system. The sleeves, or pole pockets, along the top and bottom are made to fit the diameter of the pole that they will need to slide over.
