Answers:

1. How do I compress my data to send over the internet?

Compression using WinZip & StuffIt

Compressing files with WinZip (PC) or StuffIt (Mac) is incredibly fast and easy. Both programs can be downloaded directly from our Software Download Center at no charge. After their free trail period (30 to 60 days later), you will be asked to purchase the software if you decide to continue using it.

Note: Do not use Disk Doubler for file compression. This method will not work with the Upload Center.

Advantages
Their are three distinct advantages associated with compressing your files:

First, you can compress a number of files into one newly compressed file. This will make it easier when you are sending files out. No longer will you have to worry about getting all the fonts, insets, page layout, and other files together - they'll all be in one neat file.

Second, compression will significantly reduce the size of the file you have to send. And whether you are using our new Upload Center or just writing it off to a Zip disk, you'll experience a major improvement in the the write time and file space that is required. Uploading of compressed files can save you valuable connection time and reduce the risk of an error if the Internet misses a beat during the transmission period.

And finally, our experience has shown that compressed files travel nearly flawlessly over the Internet. Other files, because of the various ways they are constructed, can encounter problems along the way.

Here's how easy it is to use compression once you've downloaded and installed the software:

WinZip
1 - Place your mouse cursor over the file or files you want to Zip.
2 - Click your right mouse button
3 - Select "Add to Zip"
4 - You are done. A new file has been created in the same directory with the same file name but the ".zip" extension.
Try WinZip! We think you'll appreciate the benefits of zipping your files and want to make it a part of your normal workflow.

StuffIt
1 - We actually recommend you download and use the DropStuff program - its available at the StuffIt site, is free, and is the easiest to use for compressing files.
2 - After you install DropStuff, it will be on your desktop
3 - Drag the file or files you want to Stuff to the DropStuff icon
3 - You are done. A new file has been created in the same directory with the same file name but with ".sit" added to the end of the filename
Try StuffIt! We think you'll appreciate the benefits of stuffing your files and want to make it a part of your normal workflow.
